Causes of Haemorrhoids

Haemorrhoids can occur because of a number of relatively common factors. They can be the result of an unhealthy lifestyle in combination with strain on the blood vessels in the haemorrhoidal cushions. This strain can be the result of increased ‘pressing’ during defecation (such as during constipation). Many women can suffer from haemorrhoids during pregnancy and after giving birth. This is due to the weight of the growing infant and eventual childbirth because instances increase the pressure in the anal veins.

An unbalanced diet can result in weak tissue which, in turn, allows the blood vessels in the haemorrhoidal tissue to rupture, causing the tissue to swell. If left untreated, this tissue can continue to swell resulting in the development of haemorrhoids.
